Pamela Monroe


I want to take this moment to post the obituary of Christine's mom. Thank you for all your prayers these past months and years.


Pamela Monroe, age 60, passed away at her home in Denton, TX on Wednesday, Feb 21, 2007 following a long struggle with lung cancer. Pamela was surrounded by her loving family (Christine was there) as she passed peacefully into the hands of our Lord.


Pamela was born July 15, 1946 in Midland, TX to James T. and Irene C. Morris. She attended grade school and Jr. High (classmate of President George Bush) and Lee High School (classmate of Laura Welsh Bush) in Midland. She graduated from The University of North Texas with a BA and MA degrees in education. She spent her career as a teacher in McKinney, TX and then in Denton at Ginnings Elementary as Pamela Davila.


She was married to Lawrence "Larry" Monroe on May 3, 1997. She is survived by her husband Larry, Christine Davila Van Diest of Greeley, CO and Jennifer Davila Brown of Denton, TX; and by step-daughter Cheryl Monroe also of Denton; sisters Cynthia Buit of Glen Arbor, MI, Cathy Rayburn of Alvin, TX, Martha DeRocher of Chino, CA and Patti Morris of Bandera, TX; brother James I. Morris of Midland, TX and eight grandchildren.


She will always be remembered for her beautiful heart and smile and how she extended the hand of Christian friendship to all she met, stranger and friend alike. A service in celebration of her life with be held this Sunday Feb. 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak, Denton, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity or "Our Daily Bread" (soup kitchen).
